I’ve always had a simple rule when it comes to tipping.

If the service is bad, I still leave about 15%. I know people are human and everyone has rough days, so I’m not trying to punish someone by leaving nothing. But if the service is actually good—attentive, friendly, and everything runs smoothly—I’ll usually go up to around 30%.
To me that just feels fair. Basic service gets a basic tip, and great service gets rewarded.
Some people say 20% should always be the standard no matter what, while others think tipping culture has gotten completely out of hand. I’m somewhere in the middle.
Now I’m curious—do you stick to one percentage every time, or do you adjust your tip depending on how the service actually is?
